Vinh Phuc is in the monsoon tropical climate zone with enough features of the Northern mountains.
The annually average temperature is 23.5-25oC, the highest temperature is 38.5oC and the lowest is 2oC. However, the terrain features cause the high difference in the temperature between the mountainous and the delta areas. In Tam Dao, at the height of 1,600m above the sea level, the annually average temperature is 18.4oC.
The annually average rainfall is 1,400-1,600mm and the annually average rainfall in the delta and midland areas is 1,323.8mm in Vinh Yen, 2,140mm in Tam Dao. The rainfall is not even in a year, mainly from May to October, making up 80% of the total. In the dry season, from November to April next year, the rainfall is only 20% of the total in a year.
The sunny hours: The total sunny hours in the year are 1,400 – 1,800 hours, June and July have most of sunny hours and March has the lest.
There are two types of wind in a year: The Southeast win from April to September; the Northeast wind from October to March next year.
The average humidity in a year is 83%. There is not high difference in the humidity level in months in the mountainous areas and the delta and midland areas. In the mountainous areas, the humidity is measured in Tam Dao. In the midland areas the humidity is measured in Vinh Yen.
The evaporation: The annual evaporation is 1,040mm, the monthly evaporation is 107.58mm from April to September and 71.72mm from October to March next year.
